the next vinyl-only release on candela rising is a 3 track ep from irish duo dara smith & ian mcdonnell, a.k.a lakker. all topped off with a remix of the title track by us born and birmingham based dj skirt. after a string of extremely successful releases on blueprint, killekill and an early 2013 release in the shape of a remix for stroboscopic artefacts, lakker are back and showing more range than ever before. coal bath is a real frankensteins monster of a track, a techno/garage hybrid with haunting vocals hiding through the middle and broken beats that hit hard. skirts remix takes coal bath and lays down some heavy demented bass, chops up the middle and grooves things up. all of which leaves a remix ready for the bunker or warehouse. on the flip, rsspstp is a heavy hitter. distorted bangs set the pace for this one, which evolves into a prime example of the attention to detail lakker are so famed for. machine music at its best. the final track on the ep, brood, is dark and dense, full of cold atmosphere, sub-low beats and distant, distorted drones. techno for the darkest floors ...

cork label basic grooves keep the focus on irish talent for their fifth release as label boss shane linehan welcomes his namesake bambrick into the fold for some well judged, atmospheric deepness. the process finds the waterford based producer veering through dark, heads down terrain though the dubby elements are complemented by a woozy melodic melancholy thanks to the gentle chords that spread out. linehan maintains the basic groove momentum on the flip with a remix that is more stripped back, lending those chords some glowing incandescence, whilst the percussion swells with sweet intensity as it progresses.

what did you do the year you turned 21? hip-hop prodigy fashawn earned a spot on the cover of xxl magazine, toured the world and built a rep as one of raps new rising stars. fashawns debut album, *boys meets world*, was heralded by critics and fans alike as one of the best albums of 2009 for its gritty, streetwise and intelligent rhymes. some even compared his introductory opus to nas brilliant *illmatic*. it was enough for xxl to name fashawn to its list of hip-hops best freshman.

phuture shock musik have the special honour to present the latest release by bass music pioneer - colin lindo aka nubian mindz. a certified veteran in the game, with a sizeable back catalog that spans releases for seminal labels such as 2000black, delsin, rush hour, and archive, not to mention some groundbreaking efforts on 4heros trailblazing reinforced label where it all began for the producer under the moniker alpha omega.

bunker i-iii is an artefactual statement. the band tap909 deals with this fact and creates some striking material in their live shows. the songs from this ep are taken from one of these indecent moments, which are radical, noisy and unscripted – searching for an answer between all these analogue machine sounds. an answer made out of technology which technology cannot give. against the society of selfish dreamers and spine- less fools.

mrsk coming with yet more styles on skudge....this time he darkens up the rave and goes into some serious warehouse territory!

a collection of previously unreleased cuts from his early hip hop days (2003-8). some big bad sample tracks with chunky hip hop beats. two rap remixes of mf doom and supastition and two cuts more in the vein of cut chemist or ruckus roboticus full of movie samples.

chicagos dj rahaan comes correct on this latest release from dublin disco heads fatty fatty phonographics. dirtyboyz takes an old bobby o production and sticks a rocket up its arse, blending in rough chi-town beats and some vocals from another music box/warehouse classic for some proper peak-time dancefloor devastation. getting up and dance is the kind of string drenched disco-boogie that he laces throughout his epic club sets, with some fiery ron hardy style edits to drive em wild. clap your hands, stomp your feet, meanwhile, rounds it off beautifully, a summery dancefloor swinger with a hellishly catchy chorus and a bouncy groove that just wont quit.

sounds tumbling over each other with awkward grace like some sort of parkour ballet in turns evokes firebrands like tim hecker, burial, and tom jenkinson. limited pressing, vinyl only, full-colour hand-made jackets (spray-painted).

it came as a great surprise when nail accepted to press on vinyl the 2011 produced bpms vol.1 he had so far only released through his own website. nail has been one of our favorite producers for quite some time now and his relentless beats always part of our selections.

championsound continue to blaze a trail, showcasing some of the hottest new talent to emerge from irelands vibrant music scene!! following hot on the heels of the premiere release on champion sound in 2013 , next in line comes the work of prolific northern irish producer, t-polar, whose previous releases on acroplane, saigon recordings, morris audio, !kaboogie records and rebirth garnered the support of everyone from mary anne hobbs to 2562 to boddika. in keeping with his previous output and adding to what must surely be irelands deepest discography in electronic music (dating back to 2004), t-polar (aka gary spence) releases feetwork, an ep which hop-scotches genres, roughened up by the searing properties of hoover bass, teamed with tough, rolling kicks, nods to leftfield house and vintage rave, and peppered with skittering two-step grit. the remix in the pack comes from the increasingly ubiquitous unknown whose youtube uploads and remixes have been setting the internet alight with speculation.

the blade wielding edit team known as beard science return for 2013 ! four more lost classics given the short back and sides (and a few extensions) the seventh release in this celebrated series opens with oswego music stretching out a fragment of dubby eighties rock. next, t.tauri revs up the engine on a raucous disco stormer. for the b side, torontos andrew allsgood and alister dj catalist johnson make their beard science debut with some sinuous space disco, hot on the heels of the launch of their free association label. finally, brad vachal, flying solo without eric hedford on this outing, slows things down with a swampy, bluesy rock number. quality all the way...

virginia first saw light on ostgut ton featuring on steffis now infamous *yours & mine* album, her distinctive and powerful vocals shining through on lead track *yours* in particular. now virginia releases her first solo 12 inch for the label, featuring 4 tactile, pushing and lovingly produced tracks, exploring some of the different zones that she explores while djing.

apartment starts off 2013 in party mode with our in-house disco mechanics bande apartment (tr one & new jackson) going to work on some super-rare and super-bad disco workouts, over extended and under cut for maximum dancefloor carnage.

with *canyons* rivulet records releases another debut from a young artist. niklas krafts aka talski musical roots are basically jazz and freejazz and he is active as a saxophonist and keyboarder in some relevant combos like klinke auf chinch, eder or the niklas kraft quartett to mention only a few. as talski he presents his very own variation of deephouse. doleful chords, cheerful drums, sophisticated sample-work but mainly the sound of his analog hammonds and junos build up the charm of his tracks. it is hard to specify his sound but after all it ranges somewhere between electronica and deephouse. the danceable part of the ep is a classic deep-house remix produced by the leipzig based duo boytalk.

*bastard child of house* is a tribute to chicagos most famous record store. inspired by a video about some native chicago guys working at the store, peter schumann and kareem decided to set words to a tune and create their own version of the story. they asked their buddy dcnt if he could add his interpretation too. and so it happened that words became sound and sound inspired more sound and as we speak everything turns into words again. with both versions the tooliness is very obvious, while the original is organic and warm in terms of tone and sound design, the dcnt version has a more technoish feel and relies heavily on its edgy and straightforward character.
